Just a little reminder; the Year 5 children are lucky enough to be joined in school, by the
SPLATS Play in a day team on Thursday 11th September. Throughout their
time in school, SPLATS will work with all children to produce a play based on
Robin Hood. All children will be taking part and will have many
important jobs to do, such as prop and costume making, as well as an acting role in the play.
We will
be in school all day, so no other arrangements for lunches or collection from
school is required. Children will, as always, need to make sure that they are
in school promptly at 8:55am, as we will be starting at 9:00am We are all
really looking forward to the team working with us, and hope that the children
will enjoy it too!Come and find out what Rise Park Primary School's Year 5 have been doing at school!

Bigwood Biathlon
On
Wednesday 10th September, both year 5 classes will be lucky enough
to travel to Southglade Leisure Centre to take part in a biathlon event, organized
and ran by the Sports Leaders from Bigwood School. The children are very excited
to take part in a swimming challenge and then complete a gruelling long
distance run immediately after they have left the pool.
Upon
passing the finish line, each child will receive a gold medal and a goodie bag
for completing the event. We know that all the children will thoroughly enjoy
this event, and hope that this is the first of many sporting achievements that
our children can look forward to this year.
Welcome back
Welcome
back – we hope you all had a great summer and are ready for the busy term
ahead. The autumn tern focusses heavily on building a solid foundation for the
year! As always we will be expecting the children to be focussed and ready to
learn at all times.
We will
be covering a few topics this term including; the history of Medieval times, the
art work of LS Lowry and Robin Hood. We will teach mental maths on a Tuesday's
and Monday’s English lesson will be focusing on reading comprehension. In
addition to this, all English lessons will be started with a Rainbow Grammar
Blast; a new initiative rolled out through school. Times Tables tests will also be
carried out on Thursday afternoon.
Miss
Gethings will be teaching in class 5G all week, and in class 5OB, Miss Ordoyno
will be teaching Tuesday – Friday, and Mrs Bird will be in there on a Monday.
Mrs Bishell will be supporting both classes all week, with Mr Kelly working
with us Tuesday to Thursday. In addition, Miss Pallander will be supporting
individual children in 5G in the mornings. Miss Jessop, a student teacher working on the School
Direct programme, will also be working with 5G all year, as part of her ongoing
training.
