Comic Relief Friday 13th March

This year, yet again, the school council have planned a range of exciting fund-raisers!

The week beginning Monday 9th March, the children will be able to vote from a select list for a teacher to have their face painted - 'Funny for money.'  Voting slips will be sold in the Key Stage 2 hall during morning breaks for 20p.  Children can purchase more than 1 slip if they would like to, and the three teachers with the most votes will have their faces painted with the most popular design.

In addition to this, during am and pm break times on Friday 13th March, there will be a staff Vs pupils dodge ball tournament.  In order to be selected for these games, pupils will need to purchase a 20p raffle ticket.  These will be on sale on Friday morning.  8 lucky pupils from each class will be drawn at random.  Only 1 raffle ticket can be purchased per child.

Finally, we also have a non-uniform day on Friday 13th March.  All we ask is that you dress up in red as much as you possibly can.  We are asking for a donation of 50p to wear non-uniform.

Spring 2 Homework Project

This half term’s homework project is linked to the work we did in Enterprise week.  Your challenge is to plan a 3- course meal for four people with a budget of £20.

Write down what you would buy and what each item costs.  Add up your total spend and write down if you have any change left over.

Write this information on these sheets or present it any other way you like.  You could actually buy and make the meal and take photos if you like! Be creative.

We look forward to receiving your work in school by Monday 30th March.

Spring 1 Homework Project

Spring Term Homework Project

This half term’s homework project is focusing on the Change 4 life theme "Up and About".

The children have been asked to participate in at least three 30 minute activities during a week, for
four weeks and then record these in the given format, (spares available from class teachers).

Please help your child to achieve their personal target and feel free to share your comments at the end of the project.

Thanks for your continued support

Homework Project - Game/Toy Inventor

For our homework project this half term, we would like you to become Toy/game inventors. What do you think it would be like working for Santa, at this time of year? We would like you to invent a new toy, game or app for a tablet/ipad. This DOESN'T have to be a real working model, rather an idea, plan or design.

First, you need to choose the AGE range you would like to create for, then the THEME of the game/toy, followed by the RULES or INSTRUCTIONS. You will also need to think about how many people are needed to play the game/toy, as well as the EQUIPMENT that is required.

Once you have your idea, we would like you to present it in one of the following ways;

  • A prototype of the game
  • An advertising poster
  • An advertising TV advert
  • An instruction booklet with rules and pictures
  • Or your own way of presenting - Be Creative!!
Have fun inventing !!!

The homework project is due in on Monday 15th December!

Children in Need 2014

The theme for this year's Children in Need appeal is "Be A Hero!" As such, we would like children to dress up as one of their heroes when they come to school on Friday 14th November - this does not just have to be someone like Batman or Wonder Woman! Your child can dress as someone that is a hero to them; a policeman, a paramedic, a celebrity or a teacher (*hint*hint*). If your child is coming to school in fancy dress, we would ask you to send them with a donation of 50p to £1.

Each year group will also have their own giant cut-out Pudsey Bear to cover with loose change - and the children from the year group that collects the most loose change will receive a special certificate to put in their Record of Achievement! So dig deep, and raid those piggy-banks!

Pudsey Bear wristbands will be on sale from Monday 10th November in the KS2 Hall for £1. Miss Page will also be selling her ever-popular Pudsey Bear badges for 50p at the same time! We have lots of opportunities to raise a stellar amount of money.

SPLAT Play in a Day

Just a little reminder; the Year 5 children are lucky enough to be joined in school, by the SPLATS Play in a day team on Thursday 11th September. Throughout their time in school, SPLATS will work with all children to produce a play based on Robin Hood. All children will be taking part and will have many important jobs to do, such as prop and costume making, as well as an acting role in the play.
We will be in school all day, so no other arrangements for lunches or collection from school is required. Children will, as always, need to make sure that they are in school promptly at 8:55am, as we will be starting at 9:00am We are all really looking forward to the team working with us, and hope that the children will enjoy it too!
