Tag Rugby event
On Tuesday 22nd September, Year 5 pupils have been invited to participate in a Tag Rugby event, held at Oakwood Academy.  The event will consist of the children playing in a Tag Rugby tournament against other schools. It does not matter if your child has never played Tag Rugby, as all the rules will be explained by the staff running the event. As such, children will need to ensure that their OUTDOOR SCHOOL PE Kit,   is in school with them on Tuesday. The outdoor PE kit is to include plimsolls or trainers, joggers and a jumper/jacket. If your child has not got the correct equipment with them, they will NOT be able to attend the event.
As the event is due to start at 1:00pm, we will be leaving school at 12:30, to ensure we arrive at Oakwood in plenty of time. This will mean that children will need a packed lunch on this day, to ensure that we leave school on time. If you require your child to have a school packed lunch, as a free school meal, please let your child's class teacher know.
We are due to finish the event by 3:00pm, and aim to have arrived back at school by 3:20pm, but please be patient with us if we are running slightly late. Children are to be collected from their classroom door, not the school office.
Please return the reply slip from the bottom of the letter you received.
Many thanks

Autumn 1 homework project

Find out as much as you can about the Middle Ages.
·      Who ruled the land?
·      What did people live in?
·      What was the peasants’ revolt?
Present your information however you like.  This might be as a poster, information booklet or PowerPoint presentation. Be creative!

Please hand this in at school on or before Monday 12th October.

Robin Hood

Our topic for the Autumn term is Robin Hood.  As part of this, we are looking at The Middle Ages in History and we have made Robin Hood hats in DT.  We are also visiting Nottingham Castle to find out more about Nottingham in The Middle Ages and the legend Robin Hood.  In English, we are writing our own version of the famous Robin Hood archery contest.

Comic Relief Friday 13th March

This year, yet again, the school council have planned a range of exciting fund-raisers!

The week beginning Monday 9th March, the children will be able to vote from a select list for a teacher to have their face painted - 'Funny for money.'  Voting slips will be sold in the Key Stage 2 hall during morning breaks for 20p.  Children can purchase more than 1 slip if they would like to, and the three teachers with the most votes will have their faces painted with the most popular design.

In addition to this, during am and pm break times on Friday 13th March, there will be a staff Vs pupils dodge ball tournament.  In order to be selected for these games, pupils will need to purchase a 20p raffle ticket.  These will be on sale on Friday morning.  8 lucky pupils from each class will be drawn at random.  Only 1 raffle ticket can be purchased per child.

Finally, we also have a non-uniform day on Friday 13th March.  All we ask is that you dress up in red as much as you possibly can.  We are asking for a donation of 50p to wear non-uniform.

Spring 2 Homework Project

This half term’s homework project is linked to the work we did in Enterprise week.  Your challenge is to plan a 3- course meal for four people with a budget of £20.

Write down what you would buy and what each item costs.  Add up your total spend and write down if you have any change left over.

Write this information on these sheets or present it any other way you like.  You could actually buy and make the meal and take photos if you like! Be creative.

We look forward to receiving your work in school by Monday 30th March.

Spring 1 Homework Project

Spring Term Homework Project

This half term’s homework project is focusing on the Change 4 life theme "Up and About".

The children have been asked to participate in at least three 30 minute activities during a week, for
four weeks and then record these in the given format, (spares available from class teachers).

Please help your child to achieve their personal target and feel free to share your comments at the end of the project.

Thanks for your continued support
